Bio
Emily K. Holmes is a Northern California-based content writer and editor. She has authored original visual arts and culture articles for 8+ publications, including Stanford University and NPR-affiliate KQED, in addition to marketing and communications work for multiple industries. She has provided editing and copy-editing services to clients and multiple online publications, including the now-shuttered publications Art Practical (via California College of the Arts) and Daily Serving. She was the lead editor of Generations, a 2000+ word manuscript by Klea McKenna that was named one of Art in America's Best Photography Books of 2018.
Emily is a former recipient of the Art Writing Workshop award from the Arts Writer Grant Program (The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Creative Capital), selected as one of 10 out of 250 applicants, and mentored by New York Times critic and Pulitzer-Prize winner Holland Cotter. Her academic scholarship was featured in San Francisco's Queer Cultural Center's Emerging Scholars Program through a QCCA (Queer Conversations on Culture and the Arts) panel, "Queer Technologies." In 2016, she was a guest curator for The News at SOMArts in San Francisco, a performance arts showcase featuring new and experimental works-in-progress by queer and trans artists.
